Universal Audio 2192
The AD/DA converter is an absolutely crucial part of today’s
recording industry. Even if you record and mix on analog tape,
eventually your music is going to end up on a CD, which means
it will need to go through an analog/digital converter. It
doesn’t matter how many amazing pre-amps, compressors,
and outboard effects a studio has, if it doesn’t have
a good AD/DA converter, the sound can come out weak and thin. That’s why Paradise features five Universal Audio
2192s. The 2192 is one of the best converters in the industry.
Our head engineer and owner, Rich Williams, is the designer
of the 2192, so he knows them in and out. The 2192 combines
Class-A analog circuitry with advanced digital technology.
It features custom op-amps, duel-differential and DC-coupled
circuitry; sample rates up to 192 kHz, and a low jitter internal
clock source. This all means that the final signal
will retain all the rich detail, exceptional dynamic response
and ultra-wide frequency ranges
of the original signal.
K.K. Proffitt, recording engineer for JamSync, expert 5.1
mixer, and writer for Mix magazine says, “[listening
to the 2192] reminded me of the reason I became an audio
engineer:
for the sheer joy of being able to hear the stark beauty
of sound."
Elliot Mazer, producer of Neil Young, Janis Joplin,
Willie Nelson & Bob Dylan, writer for Digizine says, “When
I get music into Pro Tools/HD at 192 kHz with external converters
like
the
2192, it sounds analog."
With five 2192s we have enough I/Os to record a whole drum
set solely through the 2192s. So recording at Paradise, every
part of your music will have the best AD/DA conversion available.
